Although this article specifically addresses Surgery Centers and end of life issues, Psychiatric Hospitals should be aware that RI.01.05.01 addresses the issue of advance directives in hospitals (including Psychiatric Hospitals) more generally.  Beyond this, hospitals using TJC for Deemed status purposes may also be interested in the following quote from CMS, ” The right to formulate advance directives includes the right to formulate a psychiatric advance directive (as allowed by State law)”.  See also: SPHCC_Psychiatric Advance Directives
