This discussion board (DB) is designed for easy exchange of information and ideas among colleagues interested in survey and standards issues of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) . To broaden participation, the DB is free and open to both members and non-members. You can participate as a guest, but registration is encouraged to facilitate networking. All you will need is to enter an e-mail address and password of your choice . Jump in and share. If you do not see the topic you are looking for, check our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) or start a new/your own topic. Be sure to see the important tips in the lowest portion of this window.
After making connections through the discussion board, sometimes members and/or our associates would like to communicate more directly to share additional details or exchange examples. Here is what helps:
EASIEST: When you first register for the Discussion board, add your email address to the blank that calls for 'Position/Special Title'. This will make your email address available every time you start a topic or add a comment.
.
BEST: Once you have registered and logged into the DB notice the link for 'User Control Panel' to the right of your sign-in name. Click on that 'User Control Panel' link and fill in useful contact information. Contact info will be available in your DB profile only when a reader clicks on your name in a message (which accesses your profile). This will give you a bit more privacy but allows others to respond to you directly/privately when desired. It really helps communication.
General Suggestions:
The advantage of a discussion board vs. a listserv is that it will not overwhelm your e-mail in box. Like a bulletin board, you go to it, review what is listed. You can then decide what you want to look into. However, to take advantage of a discussion board, you must make the effort to take that look. We encourage you to check the board at least twice a week and actively participate whenever you see a topic of interest. And, do not be shy about starting your own topics. The strength of this forum is in having multiple perspectives and voices sharing in a constructive manner.
Trouble Shooting Note:
If for some reason your e-mail address is not accepted the first time, instead of typing it in, try copying your address and pasting it in. If that also fails, please contact us and we will enter the information for you centrally.
Shameless Plug:Please share your comments/ideas (Suggestion Box) and if you find this discussion board useful, let some other colleagues, especially your PI/QI staff, know about it (Pass Along Our Website). You can also sign up for a free 15-minute tour to help decide if you might like to become a part (Join SHCC) our growing collaborative membership.
